1972 Pub

1972 Pub is a sports bar on Guadalupe Street near the University of Texas campus in Austin, built around a single premise: every screen shows women's sports. Co founders Debra Hallum and Marlene du Plessis opened the pub in spring 2025, naming it for the year Title IX passed and reshaped opportunities for women's athletics in America. The pub pairs a full bar and kitchen with walls decorated in donated memorabilia from female athletes, including signed jerseys and equipment. It welcomes all ages until 10pm, making it a rare Austin stop that centers women's sports programming rather than treating it as an afterthought to whatever men's game is on a side screen.
