ABATE of South Carolina

ABATE of South Carolina, a not-for-profit association at the state level, was founded in 1980 to protect the rights and liberties of motorcyclists and promote motorcycle awareness and voluntary rider training. The organization successfully amended South Carolina's mandatory helmet law to allow adult riders freedom of choice and has advocated for red light legislation passed in 2008 allowing motorcycles to proceed through red lights after two minutes. ABATE operates multiple chapters across South Carolina, including a virtual chapter for members unable to attend live meetings. The organization combines legislative action with rider education initiatives to advance motorcyclist interests. ABATE of South Carolina works with government agencies and community partners to promote motorcycle safety and maintain rider freedoms.
