Anthony Chabot Regional Park is the much larger East Bay Regional Park District landscape that surrounds and contains the separately bookable Anthony Chabot Campground, spreading across grassland, chaparral and eucalyptus groves above Castro Valley. The East Bay Skyline National Trail, which runs thirty one miles from Richmond to Castro Valley, passes through the park, and roughly seventy miles of trails here connect to the additional twenty miles of trails around neighboring Lake Chabot.
Beyond the campground, the park is used mainly for day trips: hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking along its extensive trail network, with views over Lake Chabot itself. Day-use parking is separate from the campground, and the park posts its own gate and curfew hours.
