Apple Canyon Campground refers to a set of three free, primitive yellow post campsites along Apple Canyon Road in the San Bernardino National Forest, on the far side of Highway 74 from Lake Hemet near Mountain Center and Idyllwild. Each site is limited to one party of up to eight people and two vehicles, on a first-come, first-served basis, with a fourteen day maximum stay.
These are pack-in, pack-out sites with a picnic table and fire ring but no water or trash service, and the access road can require a high-clearance vehicle. A campfire permit is required for any campfire, stove or barbecue use, and dogs must be leashed. Riders planning a stop should check current fire restrictions with the Idyllwild Ranger Station before heading out.
