Austin Daily Press started as a late night food trailer serving the bar and show crowd of the Red River Cultural District before opening its first brick and mortar shop in 2012 with executive chef Reed Faitak. The East Cesar Chavez Street address is the brand's second location, built around the torta, a pressed Mexican sandwich, as its signature item. Beyond sandwiches, this location also pours craft beer and hosts live music and other events, giving it a hybrid identity between a casual restaurant and a neighborhood gathering spot rather than functioning purely as a bar.
