Bad Monkey Ybor
1717 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL
This military-themed pub in historic Ybor City features an 80-percent scale P-40 Warhawk replica and craft beer taps engineered from 105mm howitzer shells.
Bad Monkey Ybor is a military-themed social haven located in the heart of Tampa’s historic district. The pub is immediately recognizable by the 80-percent scale P-40 Warhawk fighter plane crashing through its front wall and beer towers custom-engineered from 105mm howitzer shells. Its name is a reference to a Navy SEAL call sign, and the decor features an array of memorabilia including a ship's wheel and a fireman's hose set within a space designed like an aircraft hangar.
The venue serves as a premier sports destination featuring 20 televisions, pool tables, darts, and indoor shuffleboard. Guests can choose from 12 local craft beers on tap and a selection of spirits, alongside a menu of classic pub fare. An upstairs VIP lounge offers a view over the main floor similar to an aircraft carrier's bridge, while a backyard patio provides a shaded outdoor retreat beneath one of Ybor City's oldest trees.
Situated on 7th Avenue, the bar is a short walk from the district's iconic cigar shops and historic architecture. It is easily accessible via the free Tampa Streetcar, which links the area to downtown Tampa and the convention center. This central location makes it a convenient stop for exploring the unique nightlife and cultural heritage of the Ybor City community.
