Big Cypress Midway Campground offers year-round lakeside camping directly off the Tamiami Trail in Ochopee. It features 36 sites with electric hookups for RVs and grass areas for tents, all positioned around a central lake with prime water views.
Situated in the heart of the Big Cypress National Preserve, this campground offers sites arranged around a scenic lake where every spot has a water view. It is the only campground in the preserve to offer electric hookups and provides essential amenities such as flush toilets and potable water, though showers are not available. The open layout features paved pads for RVs and grass sites for tent campers, all equipped with picnic tables and grills.
The location on US-41 makes it a convenient stop for those traveling through the Everglades and Big Cypress ecosystems. Nearby points of interest include the Oasis Visitor Center, the Miccosukee Cultural Center, and Clyde Butcher’s Big Cypress Gallery. Visitors should be prepared for limited cell service and a high presence of local wildlife, including alligators and various bird species.
