Brightman Flat Campgrounds

Brightman Flat is a U.S. Forest Service campground in the Stanislaus National Forest, right off Highway 108 on the Sonora Pass corridor, about 21 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station. Its 33 sites sit in mixed conifer forest along the banks of the Stanislaus River, split between two entrances off the highway, with vault toilets and a fire ring and table at every site. There is no potable water at the campsites, though an RV fill-up station is available nearby at the old Brightman Flat Fire Station. Camping is first-come, first-served during the May-through-October season, and the river access here is popular with anglers working the Stanislaus for rainbow trout -- a straightforward pull-off stop for riders working the Sonora Pass route.
