Buckeye Campground is a U.S. Forest Service campground in the Bridgeport Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, reached by a rough dirt road a few miles from the town of Bridgeport, on a ridge above Buckeye Creek. It is one of the larger campgrounds in the area, with 68 sites set among sagebrush and pines, bordering the Sawtooth Ridge and Hoover Wilderness. There is no piped drinking water, so campers need to bring their own, but the location puts riders close to Buckeye Hot Spring and within about four miles of Twin Lakes. Hiking trails and trout-filled creeks run through the surrounding terrain, and the district ranger office in Bridgeport can provide current road and fire conditions before heading in.
