Buckhorn Campgrounds, Angeles Mountains, CA

Buckhorn Campground is a U.S. Forest Service campground at about 6,800 feet elevation along the Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 2) in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, roughly 35 miles northeast of La Canada Flintridge and just past the Mount Waterman ski area. Its 38 sites, including three ADA-accessible spots, sit among incense cedars and serve as a base for hikers heading to the Burkhart Trailhead, which connects to the Pacific Crest Trail. Camping is first-come, first-served for $12 a night, and an Adventure Pass is required to park in the surrounding national forest. The campground closes seasonally from around mid-November through spring, and Highway 2 itself can also see temporary closures, so riders should check current road status before planning a trip up the Crest Highway.
