Butte Lake Campground

Butte Lake Campground is a remote campground in the northeastern corner of Lassen Volcanic National Park, reached by a six-mile gravel road roughly 45 minutes from the park's main road. It has 101 single-family sites, with bear boxes required at every site; flush toilets and running water operate in summer, with vault toilets used the rest of the season, and there is no cell service. The campground sits within walking distance of Butte Lake itself, where riders can swim, launch a kayak or canoe from the boat ramp, or fish, and the Cinder Cone and other hiking trails start nearby. It's typically open from early June through mid-October, with reservations available for most sites.
