Camp Edison

Camp Edison is a large public campground on the western shore of Shaver Lake in the Sierra National Forest, built in 1963 and still owned and operated by Southern California Edison, the utility that manages the lake as part of its hydroelectric system. The campground has roughly 250 campsites split between full-hookup RV sites and electric-only sites, plus a smaller loop that stays open year-round while the rest of the campground runs from mid-spring through mid-fall. For a rider stopping at Shaver Lake, Camp Edison offers hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, coin laundry and a general store on site, along with a boat launch onto the lake for fishing, kayaking and swimming. RVs up to 60 feet can be accommodated on the hookup sites, and reported nightly rates run roughly forty to a hundred and five dollars depending on the site and season. It sits along the Sierra foothills route east of Fresno, in mountain terrain popular with riders heading toward the Sierra high country.
