Camp Nauvoo

Camp Nauvoo is a privately owned campground on about 85 acres along Weber Creek outside Placerville, California, run by the Rose family since 2016. The property has passed through several owners over the decades -- it was an LDS church girls' camp in the 1960s and a Boy Scouts of America property before the current family ownership -- and today it operates as a bookable campground with roughly 20 sites reachable through Hipcamp. Riders passing through the Sierra foothills can choose from dirt tent camping, canvas tents on wooden platforms, teepees, or glamping options like furnished safari tents and tipis, some with electricity. The creekside and bluff-top sites include showers, toilets, and campfire areas, and the camp also hosts weddings and group events, so it is worth booking ahead during peak season.
