Cape Point Campground is the largest National Park Service facility on Cape Hatteras National Seashore, located in Buxton near the iconic 198-foot Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The campground offers 202 nonelectric campsites distributed across multiple loops (A through K) with tent-only sections designated in rows D, E, and F. Each site features a paved parking pad, picnic table, and charcoal grill with no RV hookups available. Four restroom buildings with outdoor shower facilities and potable water spigots are distributed throughout the grounds. The location provides direct beach access and is within walking distance of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the Buxton Woods Nature Trail. The area is renowned as a world-class fishing and surfing destination. Wood fires are prohibited; only charcoal cooking is permitted.
