Cedar Tavern
615 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX
Cedar Tavern is a historic bar housed within Eberly, a restaurant and bar complex at 615 S Lamar Blvd in Austin. The bar itself is a relocated piece of history: a 150-year-old hand-carved mahogany bar originally from the famous Cedar Tavern in New York's Greenwich Village, once a hangout for Jack Kerouac and Bob Dylan.
It opened at Eberly in 2016, roughly a decade after the original Cedar Tavern closed in New York, and operates as a standalone bar with its own menu inside the larger Eberly building. Open from 5 p.m. daily with a walk-in-friendly setup, it's a stop on South Lamar for riders who appreciate a bar with some literary and music history behind it.
