Chaparral Campground and Picnic Area sits on the west side of Pinnacles National Park, reached from Highway 101 near Soledad and then east on Highway 146. It offers 18 walk-in campsites on a first-come, first-served basis, with camping permitted from June 1 through February 10 each year and, the rest of the year, Monday through Thursday nights only.
The area doubles as a day picnic stop with restrooms and a filtered water filling station and a view up toward the park's rock spires, and it sits close to the trailheads on the park's west side. It's a useful staging point for riders exploring the Pinnacles backcountry roads before continuing on Highway 25 or 146.
