Cheers Shot Bar

Cheers Shot Bar has poured drinks on East Sixth Street since 1993, billing itself as the strip's original shot bar. The lineup runs to more than 150 shots and drinks, and the bar is known locally as one of the more reliable places downtown to find a Flaming Doctor Pepper along with cheap well drinks. The space includes a covered outdoor patio that adds extra room on busy nights, and it's become a stop for three generations of Austin regulars and Sixth Street visitors. Hours run later on Thursday through Saturday, making it one of the longer-running options on a strip where bars turn over quickly.
