Clay Pit State Vehicular Recreation Area is a California State Parks OHV unit about two miles west of Oroville, built around a shallow depression left after clay was mined for the Oroville Dam. The fenced, 220-acre riding area has about 3 miles of trail with a maximum elevation of only 150 feet.
Facilities include shade structures, picnic tables, and a restroom, and the mostly flat, low-key terrain makes it geared toward novice riders and families rather than technical off-roading.
