Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Ranch County Park
4514 Roop Rd, Gilroy, CA
Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch County Park is a roughly 6,700-acre Santa Clara County park in the hills east of Gilroy, California, built around the 449-acre Coyote Lake reservoir. The park is reached via Roop Road and sits about 15 minutes from central Gilroy, with more than 30 miles of trails winding through oak grasslands and chaparral favored by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians.
The county-run Lakeview Campground offers dozens of reservable RV and tent sites with paved pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and food lockers, plus restrooms and hot showers; some sites include electric and water hookups and a nearby dump station. Coyote Lake itself draws anglers for bass, crappie, and bluegill, and permits boating with limited horsepower from mid-spring through mid-fall, making the park a straightforward overnight stop for travelers passing through the South Bay.
