Crab Flats Family Campground
Green Valley Lake, Running Springs, CA
Crab Flats Family Campground is a primitive U.S. Forest Service campground in the San Bernardino National Forest near Running Springs, California, reached by a dirt road that fords Deep Creek. High-clearance vehicles are recommended, and the campground is not suited to typical RVs, but it offers 28 single-family sites for tents set among pine, oak, and cedar trees.
Each site has a table and a fire ring with a grill, and the campground provides vault toilets and drinking water; 23 sites are reservable while five are first-come, first-served. The area is popular with off-road riders, with trails fanning out from camp including the Crab Creek Trail, making it a backcountry basecamp rather than a paved stopover.
