Cypress Glen Campground is situated within the Croom Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest, offering 34 shaded sites on the shore of Silver Lake. It provides a convenient base just five miles from I-75 with direct access to extensive off-road and paved trails.
Part of the Silver Lake Recreation Complex near Brooksville, this campground features 34 sites, 33 of which are equipped with 30/50-amp electric and water hookups. Each site includes a level gravel pad, a picnic table, and a fire ring or grill. The facility is supported by a central bathhouse with showers, and a dump station is located at the adjacent Silver Lake Campground. Its waterfront position makes it a popular choice for fishing and paddling on the Withlacoochee River system.
The site is particularly appealing to trail enthusiasts due to its proximity to the Croom Tract’s diverse networks. Visitors can jump on the paved 46-mile Withlacoochee State Trail or head to the nearby Croom Motorcycle Area, which features 2,600 acres of dedicated off-road trails. The surrounding landscape of dense woodlands and "crooked river" waters offers a natural retreat well away from the interstate noise.
Beyond the trails, the campground provides access to a boat ramp for kayaks and canoes in the neighboring day-use area. Reservations are required year-round through the state forest system. Its location off State Road 50 makes it an accessible stop for travelers seeking a rugged, natural environment in the heart of Florida's Nature Coast.
