Diaz Lake Recreation Area

5007 S Main St, Lone Pine, CA

Diaz Lake Recreation Area is an Inyo County-run park and campground on the shore of 80-acre Diaz Lake, three miles south of Lone Pine along US Highway 395 in the Eastern Sierra. The campground offers roughly 100 sites spread across lakeside and shaded grove sections, including a few larger group sites that hold up to 15 people. Vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, grills, and limited water spigots are provided, though there are no showers, hookups, or a dump station on site. The lake supports swimming, fishing, and boating, with motorized boats permitted from mid-May through October and kayaks, canoes, and other paddle craft welcome the rest of the year. Anglers fish for Alpers trout and bass, and shore fishing is allowed all year with a valid California license. The park sits along US 395 within easy reach of Mount Whitney, the Alabama Hills, and other Owens Valley riding routes, and it operates year-round with nightly camping fees and posted quiet hours.
