Dixon Lake Campground

Dixon Lake Campground is a city of Escondido-run park in the foothills above Escondido, California, at about 1,100 feet elevation. The campground has 46 campsites plus one ADA-accessible cabin, with ten sites offering full hookups; the rest are tent or partial-hookup sites. Amenities include drinking water, flush and vault toilets, hot showers, trash collection, and a dump station, and the park is open year-round with 2 p.m. check-in and noon check-out. Dixon Lake itself is stocked for fishing and open to non-powered and electric boats, with rentals available on site, making it a popular stop for anglers and paddlers. The campground sits close to downtown Escondido and North San Diego County's inland wine country, giving travelers a quiet overnight base within easy reach of area roads. Reservations run through the city's online system or its dedicated reservation line, and stays are capped at 14 nights within any 30-day period.
