Elk Prairie Campground

Elk Prairie Campground is part of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, located off the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway near Orick, California, within the larger Redwood National and State Parks complex. The campground's 68 sites for tents, RVs, and four ADA-accessible cabins sit in a leafy meadow just steps from trailheads leading into old-growth redwood groves, Fern Canyon, and the Pacific coast.
Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, with firewood available from camp hosts, plus drinking water, restrooms, and coin-operated hot showers. The park is also known for a resident herd of Roosevelt elk that graze the surrounding prairie. Summer reservations are recommended, as the campground regularly fills during the Memorial Day to Labor Day season.
