Fairview Campground

Kernville, CA

Fairview Campground sits along the Upper Kern River in Sequoia National Forest, about 13 miles north of Kernville on Sierra Way. The Kern River here is designated Wild and Scenic, and the 54 paved sites are arranged in three loops shaded by oak and gray pine, with some sites offering direct river access. A restaurant sits next to the campground, and vault toilets, picnic areas, and drinking water are provided on site. The campground is open roughly May through November and is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation Company under a Forest Service permit, with reservations handled through Recreation.gov. It works well as a base for whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Kern, plus hiking or mountain biking on the Whiskey Flat, Flynn Canyon, and Tobias Trails, and it puts riders within day-trip range of the Trail of 100 Giants and other Giant Sequoia groves.
