French Camp

Rock Creek Rd, Toms Place, CA

French Camp is a U.S. Forest Service campground in Inyo National Forest, located along Rock Creek in the Rock Creek drainage of the White Mountain Ranger District, about one mile off Highway 395 near Toms Place, California. The large campground has 86 sites spread across loops set among aspen, pinyon, and Jeffrey pine at roughly 7,500 feet elevation, with a mix of tent sites and spots that accommodate small to medium RVs, though no hookups are available. Each site has a table, bear box, fire ring, and grill, and the campground offers potable water, flush toilets, and an RV dump station. Rock Creek is known for trout fishing, and Rock Creek Lake, about ten miles up the road, adds swimming and boating, making French Camp a solid Eastern Sierra basecamp for riders working the 395 corridor between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes.
