Friends Bar has anchored a spot on East 6th Street in downtown Austin since 2012, running live music from local bands most nights with no cover charge. A recurring Sixth Street Blues Jam kicks off Sundays at 9:30 p.m., and the room generally sticks with live bands Sunday through Wednesday before switching to a DJ playing top 40 after the bands wrap on weekends. The bar serves a full menu of bar food alongside a full bar, and is 21 and over only, fitting the older Sixth Street entertainment district it sits in.
