What are gauntlet gloves? Gauntlet gloves have a long cuff that extends over the jacket sleeve and cinches down, sealing the gap at the wrist. That gap is where cold air and rain get in, and it is where a glove can be pulled off in a slide. Short-cuff gloves tuck under the sleeve instead and are cooler and easier to get on and off.
