Roadrunner Campground is a Bureau of Land Management camping area within the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area near Glamis and Holtville, California, reached via Gecko Road off Highway 78. It is the second-largest campground in the dunes, laid out around a loop of paved roads with vault toilets, but no hookups, potable water, or other developed amenities. The area is a longtime staging ground for off-highway vehicle riders, including dirt bikers, who camp in the open desert to access the surrounding dunes. Camping requires an Imperial Sand Dunes recreation permit, sites are not reservable, and campers must bring in all their own water and supplies, with a 14-day stay limit.
