Gold Lake

Gold Lake Hwy, Blairsden-Graeagle, CA

Gold Lake is a glacially carved alpine lake in the Lakes Basin area of Plumas National Forest, about nine miles southwest of Graeagle. The adjoining Gold Lake Campground has 38 standard sites for RVs and tents, each with a fire ring and picnic table, though there is no potable water on site. The surrounding Lakes Basin holds more than 20 smaller lakes linked by over 30 miles of maintained trails, with the Pacific Crest Trail also reachable from the network. Activities in the area span fishing, boating, hiking, backpacking, swimming, and horseback riding in summer, with cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in winter. The setting makes it a scenic stop for travelers exploring the Lost Sierra region around Graeagle and Blairsden.
