Goose Meadows Campground
Truckee, CA
Goose Meadow Campground sits between the Truckee River and Highway 89, about five miles south of Truckee in the Tahoe National Forest's Truckee Ranger District, at an elevation of nearly 6,000 feet. The campground has 24 forested sites, including four tent-only spots, each with a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and bear box, and most sites are a short walk to the river.
Open from late May through mid-October, the campground offers vault toilets and drinking water, with sites reservable through Recreation.gov starting around $22 a night. Visitors fish for rainbow trout in the Truckee River, swim and tube in summer, and use the surrounding trail network, including the Western States Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail, though Highway 89 traffic noise is noticeable at some sites.
