Head Check

A head check is turning your head to look directly at the space beside and behind you before changing lanes — an actual look, not a glance in the mirror.

What is a head check? A head check is turning your head to look directly at the space beside and behind you before changing lanes — an actual look, not a glance in the mirror. Mirrors on a motorcycle leave a blind spot, and on many bikes a good part of the mirror is filled with your own shoulder. The check takes a moment and it is the moment that finds the car sitting where the mirror said nothing was.
