Heart Bar Family Campground

Heart Bar Family Campground sits at 46610 CA-38 in the San Bernardino National Forest near Angelus Oaks, California, at an elevation of about 6,900 feet along the mountain highway connecting Big Bear Lake and the desert floor below. The campground offers 89 sites, including 63 that can be reserved through Recreation.gov and 26 first-come, first-served spots, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and a bear box for food storage. Potable water and a campground host are on site during the season, and firewood is sold locally. Riders traveling Highway 38 use Heart Bar as a base for exploring the San Gorgonio Wilderness and Sand to Snow National Monument, with nearby Jenks Lake and the South Fork of the Santa Ana River offering fishing and scenic stops just a short ride away.
