Horseshoe Bend Recreation Area
4244 State Highway 132, Coulterville, CA
Horseshoe Bend Recreation Area is a campground on the north side of Lake McClure, a few miles west of Coulterville off Highway 132 and managed through the Merced Irrigation District's Lake McClure recreation program. The campground has about 97 campsites, roughly a third with electric and water hookups, plus a boat launch ramp, fish cleaning station, rental pavilion, and dump station.
Visitors come for bass, trout, salmon, and kokanee fishing along with boating, waterskiing, hiking, and swimming on the reservoir. The site is well under an hour from Yosemite National Park and close to the small town of Coulterville, making it a practical overnight stop for riders working the Highway 49 and 132 corridor through the Sierra foothills.
