Jumbo Rocks Campground
Jumbo Rocks Campground, Park Blvd, Desert Center, CA
Jumbo Rocks Campground is one of the largest and most popular campgrounds inside Joshua Tree National Park, set among towering boulder formations at roughly 4,380 feet elevation. Despite the location on file, the campground is not in Desert Center — it sits within the park itself, about 12 miles from the town of Twentynine Palms, and is one of four campgrounds in the park that requires reservations year-round through Recreation.gov.
The campground has 124 individual tent and RV sites but no hookups or drinking water, so riders should fuel and stock up before arriving. A short interpretive nature trail leaves directly from the campground, and the surrounding rock formations make it a favorite stop for motorcyclists touring the park's main road between the West and North entrances.
