Kern River Campground
13375 Lake Ming Rd, Bakersfield, CA
Kern River Campground is a Kern County-operated campground inside Kern River County Park on Lake Ming Road, about 10 miles northeast of Bakersfield along the Kern River. The campground is split into two loops with roughly 25 sites each for tents and RVs; sites have no hookups, but generators are permitted, and both reservations and first-come, first-served camping are available.
The park sits at the mouth of the Kern River Canyon, a well-known motorcycling route into the southern Sierra, and neighboring Lake Ming offers boat launches, picnic areas and shoreline fishing. The combination of river frontage, canyon access and a public, county-run campground makes it a practical basecamp for riders exploring the area east of Bakersfield.
