Kit Carson Campground
Kit Carson Campground Rd, Markleeville, CA
Kit Carson Campground sits in Alpine County's Woodfords Canyon along the West Fork of the Carson River, inside the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest just off Highway 88 in the Sierra Nevada. The 12-site campground sits at roughly 6,860 feet among Jeffrey pines and quaking aspens, with several sites positioned along the riverbank a short ride from the Kit Carson Pass summit.
Riders traveling the Highway 88 corridor between Carson City and the Sierra will find vault toilets, bear boxes, fire pits, and picnic tables at each site, with a camp host on-site selling firewood in season. The campground typically operates from late April through late September, with reservable sites bookable up to six months in advance.
