Laguna Mountain and Burnt Rancheria Campgrounds
MM26 SUNRISE Hwy, Pine Valley, CA
Laguna Mountain and Burnt Rancheria are adjacent campgrounds along the Sunrise Scenic Byway in Cleveland National Forest's Laguna Mountain Recreation Area, about 50 miles east of San Diego and reached from Interstate 8 near Pine Valley. Both sit around 6,000 feet in a pine-and-oak forest and are managed by the same forest concessionaire, with restrooms, coin-operated seasonal showers, and campground-host firewood sales at Burnt Rancheria.
Neither campground offers RV hookups or a dump station; the nearest is at the Buckman Springs Rest Area a few miles east on I-8. The area sits directly on the Pacific Crest Trail and along the Sunrise Highway, a mountain road well known to Southern California motorcyclists, and both campgrounds are open seasonally from roughly mid-April through October.
