Lake Campground
22234 Big Pines Hwy, Wrightwood, CA
Lake Campground is a small Angeles National Forest campground on Big Pines Highway near Wrightwood, sitting at about 6,100 feet within walking distance of Jackson Lake. It has around eight sites spread across a hillside beside Highway 2, shaded by oaks and Jeffrey pines, with five sites reservable and the rest first-come, first-served.
Sites include a table and fire pit but no tent pads, and the campground has pit toilets and potable water spigots rather than full hookups. Powerboats are not allowed on Jackson Lake, keeping it quiet for swimming, canoeing, and trout and bluegill fishing, and the surrounding forest is home to bobcats, black bears, and bighorn sheep. The campground sits along the Angeles Crest corridor, a route well known to Southern California mountain riders.
