Lake Davis Campground

Lake Davis Campground sits within the Lake Davis Recreation Area in Plumas National Forest, about seven miles north of Portola, California, on the shore of Lake Davis at roughly 5,800 feet elevation. The lake was created in 1967 and has around 32 miles of shoreline, with Grizzly Campground being one of three family campgrounds in the area offering single-family sites for tents and RVs, each with a picnic table and a fire ring with grill, plus accessible flush toilets and drinking water. The recreation area supports a wide range of summer activities including fishing, hunting, boating, mountain biking, swimming, and wildlife viewing, though waterskiing and personal watercraft are not permitted, which keeps the lake calmer than many Sierra reservoirs. A campground host is on site, and the setting in the Plumas National Forest makes it a natural stop for travelers routed through the Sierra backcountry north of Lake Tahoe.
