Lake Mary Campground

Lake Mary Campground sits on the shore of Lake Mary in the Inyo National Forest, about 3.5 miles from the town of Mammoth Lakes at roughly 8,900 feet elevation among lodgepole pines. Lake Mary is the largest and most developed of the eleven lakes in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, and the campground straddles the access road in four loops of closely spaced sites, some with views of the water, with reservations available through Recreation.gov from late May through mid-September. The lake receives the heaviest trout stocking in the basin and draws anglers fishing for rainbow, brook, and brown trout, along with hikers heading out to nearby waterfalls and backcountry trails; swimming and wading in the lake are not allowed. Because bear activity is high in the area, every site has a bear-proof food locker, and campers are expected to store food and scented items properly throughout their stay.
