Lake Skinner Campground

Lake Skinner Recreation Area sits in the rolling hills outside Winchester, a short run from Temecula's wine country and a popular local stop for riders working the roads around southwest Riverside County. The 1,400-acre reservoir and its surrounding county park draw boaters, anglers, and campers looking for an easy weekend base without heading all the way to the coast. The Riverside County-run campground holds 257 sites split across three loops, with 199 full-hookup spots, 18 water-and-electric sites, and 40 water-only sites, plus a splash pad, hiking trails, and horseback riding. Reservations open six months out, and check-in runs from 2 p.m. with an 11 a.m. checkout.
