Lane Position

Lane position is where in the lane a rider chooses to ride, adjusted for visibility, escape routes, and road surface.

[VERIFY] What is lane position? Lane position is where in the lane you choose to ride — toward the left, center, or right portion — and adjusting it deliberately for visibility, escape routes, and surface conditions. A rider might move left to be seen in a mirror, right to open up a view around a curve, or off the center where oil and debris collect. Rider-training curricula divide the lane into numbered positions; the exact numbering and the recommendations vary by programme, so use the terms your own course teaches.
