Limestone Campground on the Kern River
101 Mountain Dr, Kernville, CA
Limestone Campground is a small Sequoia National Forest campground on the Wild and Scenic Upper Kern River, about 16 miles north of Kernville, California. It has 19 paved sites, picnic areas, and vault toilets, but no showers, no electrical hookups, and typically no potable water, so campers need to bring their own drinking and cooking water.
The campground sits along a stretch of river popular for whitewater rafting, kayaking, and fishing in the calmer pockets and slower edges, though swimming is discouraged because of strong currents. It is a distinct site from other Kern River canyon campgrounds run by the same Forest Service concessionaire, and its small paved sites are not well suited to trailers or larger motorhomes.
