Logger Campground

Dog Valley Rd, Truckee, CA

Logger Campground is a large Tahoe National Forest campground on the south side of Stampede Reservoir, reached from Truckee via Highway 89 north to Hobart Mills Road and then Dog Valley Road. It has more than 200 sites spread across loops with names like Cross Cut, Iron Ox, and Steam Donkey, each with a picnic table and fire ring, plus vault toilets and drinking water throughout. The campground is a genuine, currently bookable destination through Recreation.gov rather than an office address, and it puts riders close to Stampede Reservoir for boating and fishing and within range of the Dog Valley and Sierra Valley backroads north of Truckee. It is one of the larger developed campgrounds in the Truckee area, making it a solid base for exploring the surrounding forest routes.
