Lower Moro Campground - Crystal Cove State Park

Lower Moro Campground is one of three backcountry, hike-in campgrounds in Crystal Cove State Park's Moro Canyon area, distinct from the park's developed Moro Campground that allows car and RV camping near the historic district. Reaching Lower Moro requires a two to three mile hike from the trailhead along the Moro Ridge Trail, and its roughly nine primitive sites offer ocean and canyon views along with a picnic table at most sites and a vault toilet, but no water. Campers must pack in everything they need, including water, and pack out all trash, since campfires and pets are not allowed. The hike-in setting makes it a quieter alternative to the park's main campground, appealing to backpackers and hikers rather than vehicle-based campers, and reservations are recommended given the limited number of sites.
