The Oasis on Lake Travis is the original restaurant Houston entrepreneur Beau Theriot opened in 1982 on a cliff above Lake Travis, built around the idea of serving food with a view. It has grown into a sprawling, terraced complex of decks cut into the hillside, billed as one of the largest outdoor restaurants in the country, with room to seat thousands of guests across dozens of separate patios. The restaurant survived a major fire in 2005 and was rebuilt into the version that stands today, still trading on its reputation as the self-described "Sunset Capital of Texas" for its west-facing lake views. It anchors a larger hillside village of shops and other restaurants on the same property, making it a landmark stop for riders working the Lake Travis loop west of Austin.
