Old Shady Rest Campground is a U.S. Forest Service campground in the Inyo National Forest, located on Highway 203 near Old Sawmill Road in Mammoth Lakes, California, within walking distance of town. It sits under a canopy of mature Jeffrey pine at about 7,800 feet elevation and is organized as a single large loop, immediately adjacent to the larger New Shady Rest Campground across the road.
The campground offers roughly 46 dirt and paved sites suited to tents and small to medium RVs, with restrooms, flush toilets, campfire rings, picnic tables and bear-proof food lockers; showers are not available on-site, but firewood can be purchased there. Its in-town location puts hiking, mountain biking and Mammoth Lakes shopping and dining within easy reach.
