St. Lucie South Campground

St. Lucie South is a small campground operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers located at 2170 SW Canal Street in Stuart, directly on the St. Lucie lock and dam. The facility offers eight boat sites accommodating vessels up to 38 feet, nine RV sites designed for 46-foot rigs with water and 20/30/50-amp electric hookups, and three tent sites with water access but no electrical service. The campground provides essential facilities including a fishing pier, dump station, restrooms with showers, laundry services, a boat ramp and playground area. The St. Lucie Canal is part of the 152-mile Okeechobee Waterway that connects South Florida from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico, offering campers opportunities to watch boat traffic and observe wildlife including the occasional manatee passing through the lock. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777, with rates set at $30 for RVs or boats and $20 for non-electric tent sites.
