Claw of the Dragon - Outer Loop

The Claw of the Dragon is a comprehensive riding system centered on Wytheville, Virginia, with the outer loop totaling 237 miles. The loop encompasses five smaller inner loops: The Bland Loop at 94 miles, The Wytheville Loop at 62 miles, The Galax Loop at 60 miles, The Marion Loop at 138 miles, and The Bastian Loop at 82 miles. The route extends across seven Virginia counties, connecting the towns of Wytheville, Marion, and Galax while winding through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Road conditions are state-maintained, though riders may occasionally encounter gravel sections. The riding features all types of conditions from switchbacks to leisurely sections along the beautiful New River, making it a varied and engaging destination.
